In the context of the CAROTS EU-project, existing Mediators companies have been identified and linked to form a Mediator network. Mediators, such as Excelsus Structural Solutions are commercially oriented entities specialized in servicing industrial companies with analysis, measurement services and experiments at synchrotrons and neutron facilities. A new Mediator section has recently been published on the EARIV website.

Dr. Fabia Gozzo, CEO of Excelsus, has given a talk about 'Exploring Synchrotron-XRPD for the characterization of pharmaceuticals' on June, 24th 2020 at 14h10.
The joint CCG/IG autumn meeting "By hook or by crook - structural solutions from challenging crystals" was held at GSK site in Stevenage on the 20th November 2019. On this occasion, Mathilde Reinle-Schmitt presented results collected in the frame of ESS Case Studies program, launched for the joint SPS-XRPD-2/PPXRD-16 conference in May 2019. The talk was entitled 'Beyond the limits of conventional techniques: subtle structural differences influencing solubility unveiled by synchrotron-XRPD' and described how the use of S-XRPD could solve issues in industrial pharmaceutical R&D.
In the ACCELERATE Webinar #7 "The development of Synchrotron-XRPD analytical services to best meet the needs of the pharmaceutical industry", that took place on November 6th, 2019, Dr. Fabia Gozzo, founder of Excelsus Structural Solutions discussed the key role that these tools can play throughout the whole lifecycle of pharmaceuticals, from development to commercial production, including in the field of IP protection.
Among other topics, she presented Excelsus Structural Solutions' business model, developed to make complex Synchrotron-XRPD techniques readily available to the pharmaceutical industry for both "routine" measurements and investigational studies. More information can be found on the following link:

The GWIIN Exhibition, held in London on June 28th, 2019, celebrated the inspirational inventions by women who want to reinvent and improve our world. Women from several different nations entered the awards which were presented in London at the Arab British Chamber of Commerce as well as the Park Plaza, Hotel, London, England. The gathering was an opportunity for talented, entrepreneurial women to network and showcase their inventions and innovations.
Fabia Gozzo, CEO and founder of Excelsus Structural Solutions, participated in this event for which she had been nominated in the category "Exceptional Creative, Inventive or Innovative Women in Micro-enterprise or New Start-up business". She won the "DOUBLE GOLD EDUCATION / RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT AWARD" for developing easy access to state of the art, synchrotron-based characterization tools to the pharmaceutical industry, in order to enhance the selection, development and manufacturing of high-quality (bio) pharmaceutical products.
The Global Women Inventors and Innovators Network (GWIIN), a non-profit organization, was founded to celebrate this women's creativity and entrepreneurship and to increase their success rate. Every year it awards women for their inventions of all type – science, high- and low-tech, design, arts, education, food.
This year, Fabia Gozzo, founder of Excelsus Structural Solutions, a spin-off of the PSI, and pioneer of the industrial use of Synchrotron X-Ray Powder Diffraction for the study of pharmaceuticals is among the nominees for the award in the category "Exceptional Creative, Inventive or Innovative Women in Micro-enterprise or New Start-up business".
Fabia will present her company at the GWIIN Exhibition on June 27-28 in London.
